It is absolutely a great watch, iconic design. I've heard the flaws you've mentioned before, but also this is a watch that many find to be "devoid of personality", and will instead point to something with a bolder design like the Tudor Black Bay or Omega SpeedMaster

Tried this on and no its nowhere near as nice as sd43. Id love tne po chronograph as its stunning but not sure how it fits

Rolex watches are not found on salesmen. And they are realistically not very common at all. I rarely, if ever, see one in the wild.

Just ordered 2 of their classic straps without the quick release and with just basic tang buckles. They haven’t arrived yet but without an express shipping code they can take a month to arrive. With the dhl charges, vat and duty it is costing me 88 pounds for each strap. I hope they are worth it

Definitely a fan of cyclops. Cant read most dates without reading glasses on. And the thinga that bothered on various brands like helium escape valve, mercedes hands and cyclops once seen in person never even noticed though in pictures they didnt seem aestetic ...but find rolex sub sd 43 and deepsea all look way better in person than in pics

Agree with watches being passed down. I own my father’s Omega Geneve which he got on his 21st in 1958 and I have my grandfathers Omega Seamaster which he was gifted by my Grandmother back in the 50’s or 60’s (never been able to work it out). Love them both and now own a brand new Omega Planet Ocean.

These are £800 now, must be all the good reviews on UA-cam that popped the price up.

10:40 If you're saying that the £300 versions are the same as the £100 Ali-express version I am dubious. It is understood that the ones on Ali-Express are the correct movement but are not assembled by/for Seagull. Whereas genuine Seagull manufactured watches are available for around £350... or so I've read (June/July 2024)

Great man, I just got my omega and think to shorten belt with use hummer and remove clip but after watching your video it is gentle and screws mechanics are there. You almost save my precious watch. 🌿

Hard to say as i love my sd 43 and omega sm chronograph equally. Rolex wears a bit better . Omega feels more rugged but slightly less refined

I bought my 1861 hesalite back in 2007 for a mere $2200 from a certain airport duty free. Admittedly I did get a rather generous discount, but compared to the price now……..I’ve since bought a few other ‘luxury’ watches but I still love my Speedy. And just recently fitted it with the Spiralwinder sapphire case back (thanks Andy) and love it even more now even if I am the only one that can see the beautiful 1861 movement.

What collectors should consider is for how long the MKI was produced (2019-2024) to the MKII (2024) as far as I know. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I got both for a halfway reasonable price, and the reason was because the MKI is a classic and the MKII because of the SaturnV rocket, the finer details and the different caliber. I love them both. Yes, I also have a Daytona, but my “daily” is a Seamaster Diver300 with a little Gold on it. It doesn’t look like much, it’s sturdy and reliable. Thanks for this interesting review!

Hi Andy, I love the PO in all its forms 😈 As one of Omegas biggest fanboy owners, what do you think of the new Scarlet Johansen movie (Fly me to the moon) that clearly portrays the Moonwatch as product placement? I know the movie is very tongue in cheek, but odd Omega have not had an issue with a narrative its customer base deny at every opportunity.

Why and how dive watches come standard on a leather strap is beyond me. I don't care that it's treated to be water resistant. Leather and water just don't match. And Omega bracelets, especially the clasps, aren't for me. That said, in 2018 i purchased the Planet Ocean 43.5mm in blue from an Omega Boutique with that exact same rubber strap (on RHS at 0:17), replacing the blue alligator which stayed in the box. First time I've seen another one anywhere and thought they discontinued the strap as it's not on any Omega website (your link goes to some Russian site). it's the best strap for that watch! I stupidly ended up selling the watch a couple of years later after acquiring two rolexes. Missing it though and about to buy the new release in grey.

I have both the submariner Starbucks and the Tudor BBgmt Opaline dial. The BB is a chunky monkey and doesn’t have glide lock tfit. I enjoy the dial on the BB and thinking about changing the strap

I bought the blue dial in 2023 for $6200. I found it top heavy, no micro adjustments poor lume crown hard to work with, and I changed the strap to a Artem sailcloth which made it lighter. I then got the call from AD for Rolex submariner Starbucks and that watch did not have any of those issues my Omega had.

I used a 1.4mm screw driver that came in my Stanley set, it was the smallest screw driver in the set. Also use a "low strength" threadlocker like Loctite 222MS (Purple), never medium or high strength as these 2 will cause issues removing screws.

More crap to buy. Consuming isn’t collecting.

Actually one shop refused change battery on this one saying that the problem is to get the waterproof seal back on as per the company standard. How true is it?

41mm is the way to go for men. The clasp is still pathetic.

If you do not mind wearing very thick watch then the Tudor is a great value at around $4.5K. It is 14.6mm thick. This is why I did not buy it as it felt too thick on my average wrist. The Rolex is just 12mm thick so it feels a little more comfortable on my wrist. My strong advice is to visit your AD and try the watch that you are interested in and then decide.
